Alaska's cruise industry came to a grinding halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the loss of many seasonal jobs. So Juneau voted to use federal CARES Act funds to create a Depression-era style Conservation Corps.

As Adelyn Baxter of KTOO reports, the corps is making bike trails and improving hiking trail access, which puts some people back to work.

This segment aired on July 30, 2020.
