France, Germany and Ireland are under new pandemic restrictions as Europe tries to contain the latest surge in coronavirus cases.

But schools are staying open, unlike in many parts of the U.S. where students are mostly learning remotely.

Here & Now's Tonya Mosley speaks with Dr. David Rubin, who says that there hasn't been a lot of transmission of the virus at schools that are following rigorous protocols with masks, social distancing and ventilation. Rubin is an epidemiologist and pediatrician at the University of Pennsylvania and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

This segment aired on November 3, 2020.
