The Gabby Petito case rose to national importance in part due to the flood of videos and posts from true crime aficionados across social media.

But the majority of true crime is created by white women, consumed by white women, and about white, female victims.

Lindsey Webb, associate professor at the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law, discusses why the genre focuses so heavily on white women and what impact that's having on our culture.

This segment aired on October 1, 2021.
