Reflecting on the Japanese American internment 80 years after Executive Order 9066

Feb. 19, 2022, marks 80 years since President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 and authorized the forced internment of more than 100,000 people of Japanese descent living on the West Coast. The majority of those detained were American citizens.

One young man chose to defy Executive Order 9066. His name was Fred Korematsu. His daughter Karen Korematsu, founder and executive director of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute, joins us to reflect on his legacy.
