It's hard for parents of young children to find time for just about anything. So it's no small feat that families from all 50 states have traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to call on Congress to address what has been called a child care crisis. They're pushing for new federal policies that would guarantee child care, parental leave, and early childhood mental health care, among other things.

The protest is organized by a group called Zero to Three. Here & Now's Deepa Fernandes speaks with Patricia Cole, the group's senior director for Federal Affairs, and Danny Troncoso, a parent who came from Eden, North Carolina to make his voice heard.

This segment aired on June 21, 2023.
