Summer is one of ‘the hardest times of year’ for family food budgets in Nebraska
Nebraska is among the states participating in a new federal program to help parents keep their kids fed during the summer months.
Here & Now’s Deepa Fernandes hears about the need there with Megan Hamann. She’s a community organizer for food and nutrition access with Nebraska Appleseed, a nonprofit that fought for Nebraska’s participation in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program for low-income kids.
