Drug use and heat waves are a deadly combination

Public health officials say that people are more likely to die in a heat wave if they are also using drugs or alcohol. It's an issue in hot cities across the country that are dealing with an addiction crisis and homelessness.

Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd speaks with Haley Coles, executive director of Sonoran Prevention Works. The group offers outreach programs to keep people who use drugs safe during the summer in Phoenix.
