06:21

The son of infamous Mexican cartel boss “El Chapo” Guzman is behind bars in the U.S. Friday along with the alleged co-founder of the powerful Sinaloa cartel — both suspected of flooding the United States with the deadly drug fentanyl.

Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, 76, and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, 38, were part of a sting operation that tricked the men into boarding a plane to El Paso, Texas, where they were arrested by FBI agents.

How did it all play out? And how important are these arrests? Here & Now's David Folkenflik talks to Mary Beth Sheridan, Mexico and Central America correspondent for the Washington Post, about the latest developments.

This segment aired on July 26, 2024.
