As we head into the second week of the Paris Olympics, all eyes are on that iconic purple track where athletes including American Noah Lyles — now crowned the fastest man in the world — won a gold medal in the 100-meter sprint over the weekend. Others who dazzled were Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh who won gold by clearing two meters on her first attempt and Dutch runner Femke Bol who came from behind to propel the Dutch 4 x 400 mixed team to the top of the podium.

Here & Now track and field watcher Alex Ashlock joins host Deepa Fernandes to talk about those contests and the track and field match-ups still to come.

This segment aired on August 5, 2024.
