Zuckerberg accuses White House of pressuring Facebook to 'censor' some COVID posts
Here & Now host Scott Tong speaks with Bloomberg's Kurt Wagner about Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's letter on Monday to Rep. Jim Jordan, the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, stating that he regrets bowing to what he calls White House pressure in 2021 to take down some Facebook posts related to the coronavirus, "including humor and satire."
In a statement, a White House spokesperson responded: "When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety. Our position has been clear and consistent: we believe tech companies and other private actors should take into account the effects their actions have on the American people, while making independent choices about the information they present."
