The Army confirmed today that an employee of Arlington National Cemetery got into an altercation with former President Donald Trump's campaign after the campaign insisted on filming footage during a wreath laying ceremony on the third anniversary of an attack in Afghanistan that killed 13 U.S. service members during the chaotic American withdrawal.

Federal rules prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. The Army called the incident "unfortunate" and added that it was "unfortunate that the ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked."

NPR's Quil Lawrence broke the story. He shares the latest on the controversy and the altercation with a cemetery staff member.

This segment aired on August 29, 2024.
