Kroger and Albertsons battle FTC in court. What's at stake with proposed merger

04:39

Kroger and Albertsons together have about 5,000 grocery stores across the country.

Federal regulators object to the two conglomerates merging, saying it would lead to a lack of competition, higher prices and bad news for consumers and workers. The grocery giants say their big competition is Walmart, the nation's biggest grocery retailer.

Here & Now's Scott Tong talks with Dee-Ann Durbin, business reporter for the Associated Press who covers the food industry.

This segment aired on August 30, 2024.
