Six years after the fall of Theranos, companies are again exploring innovation in blood testing

An Austin, Texas-based company is bringing a new type of “finger prick” blood test to pharmacies that they say is quicker and more convenient than standard tests. By taking a few drops of blood from the fingertip, the company is running a slate of standard tests.

Advocates say this marks a breakthrough in blood testing for chronic disease patients and the "needle phobic." The medical community is reacting with cautious optimism.
