25 years later, 'The Matrix' is more salient than ever

Twenty-five years ago, Neo took the “red pill” and learned the true nature of his reality. "The Matrix" came out in 1999. It’s back in theaters this weekend.

That phrase “getting red pilled” — or choosing to cast off the yoke of a comfortable lie and face the truth — is just one way the film continues to influence culture today.

New York Times film critic Alissa Wilkinson tells Here & Now's Scott Tong that "The Matrix" is more relevant than ever.
