Tentative deal ends port strike

06:17

Dockworkers have temporarily suspended their strike at ports along the East and Gulf coasts after reaching an agreement with the United States Maritime Alliance. The tentative deal ends a work stoppage that blocked container ships from being unloaded and threatened shortages of consumer goods.

Host Lisa Mullins speaks with the director of the National Economic Council Lael Brainard, who helped work on the negotiations.

This segment aired on October 4, 2024.
