Remembering Sammy Basso and his public fight against progeria
Sammy Basso was a biologist and advocate for patients with progeria, the rare genetic disease that causes rapid aging. Diagnosed with the disease when he was 2, Basso's online videos would often poke fun at himself and find the humor in his disease.
Basso died earlier this month at the age of 28.
Eric Boodman, general assignment reporter for STAT, joins us to discuss Basso's life and legacy.
This segment aired on October 15, 2024.
