A globally famous grizzly bear died in late October after being hit by a car south of Jackson, Wyoming. Grizzly 399 — named after the number on her tracking tag — was known for her unflappable maternal instincts and huge emotional range. She became a symbol of wild animal recovery in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and around the world.

Renowned photographer Tom Mangelsen joined Peter O'Dowd to reflect on 399's life and legacy.

This segment aired on November 1, 2024.
