Rabies is a fatal virus spread by warm-blooded animals, and although rabies deaths are rare in the United States, the disease kills about 60,000 people around the world every year. Half of the deaths are children.

Rabies is preventable with vaccination, and Here & Now's Deepa Fernandes speaks with Luke Gamble, CEO of Mission Rabies, an organization working to vaccinate dogs for rabies to eradicate the virus.
