The 'invisible danger' of formaldehyde pollution

09:38

Formaldehyde is a toxic chemical that is ubiquitous in modern life. It’s in adhesives, plastics and children's toys, to name a few. And according to a new investigation from ProPublica, it’s in the air we breathe, causing more cancer than any other airborne chemical.

While the health risks of formaldehyde have been known for decades, industry has repeatedly pushed back against regulations.

Here & Now's Scott Tong speaks with ProPublica's Topher Sanders, who reported on formaldehyde with ProPublica’s Sharon Lerner and Al Shaw.

This segment aired on December 10, 2024.
