Band Aid turns 40: Looking back on its history
The song "Do They Know it's Christmas?" turned 40 this year. It is a song that spawned many musical efforts to grow charitable giving. It launched Band Aid which led to Live Aid, Farm Aid and many other events.
However, the song's tone of colonialism has made it a point of controversy in recent years. Yet it remains popular and still seen by many as a force for good.
