If you’re thinking of doing some holiday baking, look to one of the most touted cookbooks of the year: Rose Levy Berenbaum’s 35th anniversary revised edition of the iconic "Cake Bible."

When the book was first published in 1988 it was as though the wheel had been invented, introducing new concepts like “reverse creaming” and instructing bakers to measure ingredients by weight instead of volume.

The book includes new charts, more photographs, updated ingredients and step-by-step instructions nearly guaranteed to succeed, even in the nervous hands of the novice baker.

Host Robin Young spoke to Berenbaum in the fall.

This segment aired on December 18, 2024.
