Turtle with 'bubble butt syndrome' gets new lease on life
A turtle at Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut is getting a new lease on life thanks to a 3D prosthetic that will help it keep swimming following an injury it sustained a few years ago.
Charlotte, a male turtle, began suffering from positive buoyancy syndrome — also known as "bubble butt syndrome" — after being hit by a boat. The new prosthetic helps the turtle dive and resurface.
For more on Charlotte's story, host Peter O'Dowd speaks to Dr. Molly Martony, senior veterinarian at the Mystic Aquarium.
This segment aired on December 19, 2024.
