Letters written by a WWII soldier to his wife during wartime offer an intimate glimpse into history
Louis “Speedy” Weber wrote to his wife almost every day while deployed overseas with the U.S. Army during World War II. She kept them all.
In 2022, the letters were anonymously donated to the United Service Organizations, where they are now being sorted and digitized to help preserve this piece of history.
Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd speaks with USO archivist Michael Case about how these letters offer a rare and intimate glimpse into the lives of soldiers and their families during wartime.
