Historian Brian Rosenwald argues that former President Jimmy Carter was a good person, with significant achievements, but that on balance, Carter's mistakes and "political tin ear" gave fuel to the "rise of a hard-edged conservatism" and "did massive damage to his political party."

Here & Now's Scott Tong speaks with Rosenwald, a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania and author of "Talk Radio's America."

This segment aired on January 3, 2025.
