In her film "Black Box Diaries," based on her best-selling memoir, Shiori Ito chronicles her decision to go public and pursue a civil suit against her alleged rapist after police and prosecutors refused to pursue the case.

"Black Box Diaries" is on the shortlist for an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature and will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime on Tuesday.
