In California, hundreds of incarcerated firefighters are working to put out the fires that have burned more than 40,000 acres — an area larger than San Francisco.

Host Peter O'Dowd speaks with Sam Levin, a correspondent with the Guardian U.S., about the incarcerated people who are part of the state's emergency response.

This segment aired on January 13, 2025.
