Can social media literacy, joy and reflection combat cell phone-driven teen violence?

Here & Now reported about what some school administrators are calling an epidemic of school violence — fights planned, promoted and streamed on social media — after hundreds of students film them. So what’s the solution?
Some schools have instituted cell phone bans during school hours, but the approach is just a Band-Aid, many say. Real change, according to University of Pennsylvania professor Desmond Patton, means starting by meeting students where they are and helping them change their relationship with social media.
Host Robin Young talks to Patton, who studies the intersection between gang violence and social media.
