How AI slop invaded local journalism in Oregon
The Ashland Daily Tidings looks like a thriving local newspaper, but there's one problem: It closed in 2023. Oregon Public Broadcasting discovered the owners of the site had been using artificial intelligence to steal other outlets' work and even the identities of real reporters who had nothing to do with it.
