'Like rushing under a closing gate': Singer Lizz Wright reflects on her Kennedy Center performance

Jazz and gospel singer Lizz Wright was honored by the invitation to sing at the Kennedy Center. She had purchased former artistic advisor Renée Fleming's book, just weeks prior to being called up to perform at the Center as part of Fleming's vocal series, VOICES. Performing at the famed arts institution was a dream come true for Wright.
But when President Trump quickly and unceremoniously took control of the Kennedy Center the same night as her show, moments before she was to take the stage, her dream almost came crumbling down around her.
Here & Now's Asma Khalid speaks to Wright about how she approached her performance with the knowledge of Trump's takeover and what it meant to her to complete her set that night.
