It's been three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians have been killed, more than 10 million people have been displaced, and about 20% of Ukrainian territory is under Russian control.

Here & Now's Scott Tong talks to NPR Ukraine correspondent Joanna Kakissis about the toll the war has taken on Ukraine and what the future looks like.

This segment aired on February 24, 2025.
