How the Trump administration has embraced El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele

We’ve been reporting on President Trump’s decision to deport hundreds of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador.

The Trump administration accuses many of them of being gang members. Their deportation has put a spotlight on El Salvador’s prisons.

Human rights groups have repeatedly condemned the cruelty with which El Salvador treats its prisoners.
