Indian police say a tourist visited North Sentinel Island, an Indian province in the middle of the Bay of Bengal. It’s illegal to travel to the island to protect the Sentinelese people, who have long shunned interaction with the outside world.

The director of Survival International, Caroline Pearce, joins Here & Now to explain why her organization has spoken out against contacting the Sentinelese and other uncontacted tribes.

This segment aired on April 8, 2025.
