Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced tough questions from Democrats and Republicans about chaos at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and his changes to federal vaccine policy, during a Senate Finance Committee hearing on Thursday.

Here & Now's Robin Young speaks with Julie Rovner, chief Washington correspondent for KFF Health News.

Editor's note: In an earlier broadcast, we referred to Susan Monarez as a "MAGA person," which was an error. Monarez was nominated by President Trump earlier this year to lead the CDC. She was fired last month over a dispute about vaccine policies.

This segment aired on September 4, 2025.
