Actor, dancer and advocate Alyson Stoner was just a kid when they starred in "Mike's Super Short Show," "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Camp Rock." On the surface, Stoner’s childhood and adolescence in Hollywood seemed like a dream. But behind the scenes, it was anything but rosy.

Like many children swept up in the industry, Stoner was working 80-hour weeks at just 8 years old. And at home, there was turmoil and substance abuse. Stoner peels back the curtain in a new memoir called “Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything.” They joined Here & Now’s Kalyani Saxena at WBUR’s CitySpace last month to talk about the book.

This segment aired on September 15, 2025.
