Inside a 'dead village' in Northeast China

05:37

NPR’s John Ruwitch visited a "dead village" in Northeast China, where the population has decreased substantially, resulting in a largely aging population.

He talked to elderly parents there, and then connected with their kids living elsewhere to tell the story of China's demographic collapse through the lens of one family.

This segment aired on October 30, 2025.
