The Red Sox are said to be finalizing a deal with left-handed starter David Price that would pay him a reported $217 million over seven years.

It would be the biggest deal for a pitcher in baseball history, and a major move in the effort of new baseball operations president Dave Dombrowski to reshape the team.

Baseball writer and Red Sox historian Glenn Stout joined Morning Edition to offer some perspective on the move.

This segment aired on December 2, 2015.
