There will be no casino in the city of Brockton.

On Thursday, the state Gaming Commission rejected the application from Mass Gaming and Entertainment to build a casino on the Brockton fairgrounds. The decision leaves southeastern Massachusetts, Region C, without a state-licensed casino, though the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe has begun building one in nearby Taunton.

WBUR's Jack Lepiarz joined Morning Edition to discuss the decision.

This segment aired on April 29, 2016.
