The Red Sox are the American League Wild Card for the third year running. They tied the New York Yankees in the standings with a 10-1 win yesterday, but New York still won the division because of its better head-to-head record against the Red Sox. The Sox open their playoff series against the Chicago White Sox tomorrow.
