Blackouts Possible This Winter

According to the Federal Energy Information Administration, heating your home is likely to cost more this season. The agency anticipates a 28 percent increase in oil prices and a 29 percent rise in natural gas costs.

A severe winter could overwhelm New England's supplies of natural gas, which is used to generate a third of the region's power. Electricity officials are warning of possible rolling blackouts if demand exceeds supply.
