Top Iraqi Diplomat at Harvard

This article is more than 12 years old.

Iraq's top diplomat told a crowd at Harvard last night that a U.S. troop withdrawal from the region would cause chaos.

Hoshyar Zebari also chastized Iran and other neighbors for meddling in Iraq's affairs, and he cautioned Iran and the U.S. from using Iraq as a battleground.

"The message we've been giving out to both is to keep their difference away from Iraq, because we have too many things on our plate," he said.

The last time Zebari spoke at Harvard was in 1991, at the end of the Gulf War.

The second international conference on Iraq is planned for next month in Turkey. Zebari said security, oil resources and Iraqi refugees will be on the top of the agenda.

This program aired on October 2, 2007. The audio for this program is not available.
