Election 08: Media and the Message

WGBH and WBUR, in partnership with Boston University's College of Communication, present: "Election '08: Media and the Message" Friday, November 2 at 7-8pm on WGBH 2; simulcast on WBUR.

In advance of the 2008 presidential election, Greater Boston and On Point examine what the media is covering and why. WGBH-TV and WBUR 90.9 FM, in partnership with Boston University's College of Communication, present "Election '08: Media and the Message."

Greater Boston host Emily Rooney will co-moderate the show with Tom Ashbrook, host of WBUR and National Public Radio's On Point, and the show will feature a studio audience of Boston University students. Greater Boston will produce the program in WGBH's Calderwood Studio in the afternoon on November 2, and broadcast it that evening.

Confirmed panelists include: nationally syndicated columnist Ellen Goodman; Politico's Jonathan Martin; Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons, who managed media relations in 40 states for Al Gore in 2000; Marion Just, Wellesley college professor and author of Crosstalk: Citizens, Candidates and the Media in a Presidential Campaign; Kevin Madden, national press secretary for former governor Mitt Romney's presidential campaign; and John Carroll of "Beat the Press" and Boston University.
