Surprise Job Growth in Massachusetts

Massachusetts employers added 2,900 jobs last month compared to February, bucking a national trend and surprising local economists.

The nation lost 80,000 jobs in the same period. About 1,000 of the state's new jobs came in the professional and business services sector.

Construction and manufacturing also did better than expected.
