Turner Says FBI May Have Doctored Evidence

Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner is suggesting that the FBI photographs that allegedly show him taking a bribe could have been faked.

Turner and former Boston state Senator Dianne Wilkerson pleaded not guilty to new federal conspiracy and extortion charges yesterday.

WBUR's Bianca Vazquez Toness has the latest.

Chuck Turner and Dianne Wilkerson are accused of conspiring to extort money from a businessman wanting a liquor license. Wilkerson resigned her Senate seat last month and has refused media interviews.

Turner, however, is trying to hold onto to his position on the city council. Yesterday, he raised new questions about FBI photos showing him with what appears to be a wad of cash in his hand.

TURNER: It could be, it could be doctored. I'm not sure that it's me. But also, another conjecture is that it could be accepting a campaign contribution.

Turner says he can't explain exactly what happened until his trial.
