Mass. Sales Tax Holiday Not A Big Hit

The 2008 summer sales tax holiday proved to be less of a draw for shoppers compared to last year.

State officials say consumers avoided paying about 15-million dollars in sales tax by doing their shopping on august 17th and 18th. That's down from about 16-million dollars during the 2007 tax holiday.

The drop is blamed on an overall decrease in retail activity due to the economic downturn.
