Murray Vows No Toll Increase On Turnpike

Senate President Therese Murray is vowing that there will not be a toll increase on the Massachusetts Turnpike in July.

Murray's statement follows Gov. Deval Patrick's warning that if reforms aren't made to the state's transportation, pension and ethics systems, there could be steep toll hikes.

The Senate president called the warning a "scare tactic."

"This is no time for scare tactics for anybody," Murray said. "It was done in March, there was no need for the tolls to go up then, there is no need for the tolls to go up now."

Murray says a reform bill will reach the governor's desk before the budget.
