Former Mass. Officials Subpoenaed In Turnpike Case
The state's former transportation secretary and the former executive director of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority have been subpoenaed to testify in a case alleging improper toll diversions.
Bernard Cohen and Alan LeBovidge were served with the subpoenas on Tuesday, said a spokesman for plaintiff's attorney Jan Schlichtmann.
Schlichtmann was portrayed in the 1998 movie "A Civil Affair" for his work on behalf of Woburn families fighting a chemical company.
Now he's working on behalf of tollpayers who allege revenues from the east-west Pike have been improperly diverted to pay expenses for the north-south Central Artery project.
Last week a Superior Court justice ruled against Schlichtmann in his request to place a hold on certain Pike assets to assure payment of any possible judgment.
