Pagliuca Goes 1-For-2 Tuesday Night

The crowd chanted "Steve! Steve! Steve!" as Boston Celtics co-owner Stephen Pagliuca took to the stage to give his concession speech at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston's South End.

Pagliuca pledged to throw his support behind the Democratic nominee, Attorney General Martha Coakley.

Surrounded by banners and balloons in Celtic green, Pagliuca said he would continue to work with John Walsh, head of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, on strategies for job creation, a central plank in his failed bid for Senate.

Pagliuca's supporters remained upbeat. Some said they hoped he'd eventually make a run for another statewide office. Political analysts say Pagliuca's fourth-place finish makes such a future run unlikely.

Pagliuca spent about $9 million of his own money financing his campaign.

His other team, however, did pull out a fourth-quarter victory. "At least I'm 1-for-2 tonight," Pagliuca said, referring to the Celtics 98-89 Tuesday night win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
