Travaglini Leaving Mass. Pension Fund

A Massachusetts treasury staffer says Michael Travaglini is leaving as head of the state's main pension fund.

Travaglini's resignation as executive director of the Pension Reserves Investment Management Board will be formally announced June 1 and is effective June 11.

The staffer, who spoke to The Associated Press on Monday on the condition of anonymity because a formal announcement had not been made, said Travaglini will be going into the private sector.

Travaglini is the brother of former Senate President Robert Travaglini.

The PRIM board is overseen by state Treasurer Timothy Cahill. He is an independent candidate for governor and will be replaced as treasurer in January.
