13 Worcester Businesses Speak Out Against Eminent Domain Plans

The owners of 13 properties in Worcester Wednesday night get the chance to speak out against plans to take their land by eminent domain.

The properties — mostly occupied by small businesses — are in the way of a planned expansion by CSX Transportation to make Worcester its new freight hub in Massachusetts.

"They just don't want to lose their business and they just don't want to move from there. It's not a question of price offered by CSX," says George Kerxhalli, chairman of the neighborhood's business association.

The state's department of public utilities will hold a public hearing Wednesday night on the eminent domain petitions.

This program aired on October 20, 2010. The audio for this program is not available.
