Lawrence Drug Bust Yields 9 Pounds Of Heroin

Police have arrested six men and seized nearly nine pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of more than $3 million in a raid on a Lawrence apartment.

Chief John Romero says the seizure on Wednesday night was one of the largest in the region in some time.

Romero tells The Eagle-Tribune that local, state and federal law enforcement authorities obtained a search warrant for the apartment and charged six men with trafficking in heroin over 200 grams and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.

Police also seized $5,000 in cash.

Three of the men arrested were residents of the apartment. One was a resident of another unit in the building, one was from Boston and one from Hartford, Conn.

They are all scheduled for arraignment on Thursday.
